Travelers planning to board flights from the UK to Australia can obtain e-Visitor visa directly from the Department of Immigration & Border Protection without paying any application charge or service fee. 

You can get ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) through your travel agent or via the airline you are travelling with. While you do not need to pay any visa application charge, a service fee of AUD20 applies. Travelers who are 75 years of age or older and purchasing air tickets to Australia, may be taken through a health examination before the visa can be granted. 

You may be asked to show return tickets or tickets for onward travel and evidence of enough funds to support your stay in Australia, upon arrival. 

Passport – The passport must be valid for the intended duration of the stay in Australia. British passport holders do not require ensuring any additional validity on their passport.

Though there are no airlines that operate non-stop flights from any of the cities in the United Kingdom to Australia, but travelers may choose from a number of airlines offering relatively cheaper air tickets for multi-stop flights from different UK airports.
